Tattoo after care
Remove bandage in 2- 10 hours
Do not cover or bandage again.
Follow these directions for the next two weeks, for our clients with Diabetes, please follow aftercare for 4 weeks.
Wash tattoo gently with a mild liquid antibacterial hand soap such as liquid Softsoap or Dial. Do not use a loofah, sponge, or towel. Wash only with your fingertips for 30 seconds, rinse with clean water.
Warm to cool water is ideal for washing your new tattoo.
Always gently pat your tattoo dry
Wash your hands with antibacterial soap for 30 seconds, then apply a thin coat of Tattoo Goo or Unscented Lotion (any brand) 2-3 a day.
Do not use the following products on your tattoo: Aquaphor, A&D, Neosporin, Triple Antibiotic, or Vaseline. Petroleum products keep your tattoo too wet, which is not ideal for healing and the can remove pigment from your tattoo.
Don’t soak in water, that means if you get a tattoo on your wrist or lower arm you’ll likely need some gloves to protect your tattoo if you’re doing dishes, washing the dog, and so on.
Showers are great! Baths, swimming pools, hot tubs, lakes are all out until your tattoo is fully healed.
Do not itch, scratch, pick, or poke your tattoo. Your finger nails can carry bacteria into your open skin.
Do not allow friends to hit or “set” your tattoo, this can blow out lines which cannot be fixed.
Did you get a tattoo on your bra or bikini line? Soft clothes are your best friend for the next two weeks. Avoid elastic bands!
Keep pets, children, and unwashed surfaces away from your fresh ink.
What to expect: your tattoo can be inflamed, itchy, mildly irritated. It is normal to have scabbing and itchiness. Keep your tattoo clean and dry, do not over moisturize, do not pick your scabs!
Do not Google how to take care of your tattoo, there is a regrettably large sum of misinformation regarding aftercare online. If you ever have questions please, please, please call us. We’re open every single day and we are more than happy to help! 918-585-8282
