PIERCING AFTERCARE

GENERAL PIERCING AFTERCARE
Less is More

  •     Wash your piercing once a day with a gentle, unscented, antibacterial hand soap. We suggest Provon which can be purchased in house for $5.00 or a liquid soap such as dial or softsoap. It is easiest to wash your piercing in the shower as the warm water will help to break up any dried lymph fluid. You will always wash for 30 seconds.

  •     Do not move, twist, remove, or play with your jewelry while your piercing is healing.

  •     No, your piercing did not heal in a week. A piercing may not hurt, be inflamed, or release white blood cells, after 5-10 days. This does not mean that your piercing is healed. Please allow 3- 12 months for full maturation.

  •     Always wash your hands for 30 seconds with antibacterial soap before you touch your piercings or jewelry.

  •     More is not better. Do not clean your piercing more than once a day.

  •      A white, yellow discharge is normal and you will probably see it during the entire healing process. If an infection occurs contact a physician.

  •      After 3 months if the swelling has gone you can change your jewelry to something smaller. Do not change jewelry excessively until the piercing is fully healed.

  •      Do not apply hydrogen peroxide, alcohol, or oils to your piercing

Excessively moving, touching, or playing with your piercing can introduce infection causing bacteria to your piercing.
